What is a hyper-local Wine and Food Pairing?

I am very excited to announce the availability of my third wine-related book. In this book, I go hyper-local and pair food with all of the wines from one of Loudoun County’s award-winning wineries, October One Vineyard.

My latest book, Food and Wine Pairing: October One Vineyard, is available locally at October One Vineyard’s tasting shop in Leesburg, Virginia, at 7 Loudoun Steet SE. It is also available on Amazon in hardcover and softcover versions.

I assembled a three-person tasting team to create an accurate and informative book. Together we are food lovers, professional and home chefs, wine writers, wine industry managers, trained wine professionals, and supporters of local wine.

Our initial choices for food pairings were based on an amalgamation of expert recommendations, considering all of October One Vineyard’s wine types, Albariño, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Viognier. We prepared seven multi-hour tasting dinners with multiple kinds of cheese, appetizers, at least two entrées, and desserts.

With our combined palates at work, we developed these helpful and accurate hand-curated wine and food pairings, menus, and recipes. The method we used was to evaluate the wine’s color, clarity, aromas, and flavors before the pairings; then, while trying each food type, we discussed and captured the best combinations for you.

Also included are wine serving temperatures, wine glass selections, and wine handling tips. Candid photos of food items per wine type are included to help with shopping for or visualizing unfamiliar things.

There is no substitute for experimentation when creating food and wine pairings. Verifying which food goes well with your wine takes time and determination. That is what we have done for you here. We experimented with over one hundred food items to see how they paired with October One Vineyard’s wines to bring you curated menus. Menus full of choices for snacks, appetizers, entrées, and desserts. We also include recipes made with October One Vineyard’s wine as the theme ingredient in marinades and sauces.
